With the cast selected and rehearsals well underway, everyone has something to learn. Memorising anything can be challenging, but it’s an essential part of a performance. How do you get the words to stick in your brain? Try a few of the following tips for learning lines.
Read the lines aloud – by speaking the lines you will hear them and they are more likely to stick.
Ask a friend to help you – friends can correct you on any mistakes you make, give you the cue lines and go over any weak areas.
Practise, practise, practise – this is the only way to make the lines stick. Everyone has to do this even the professionals! Repeat the line aloud until you’ve memorised it.
Little and often – commit to learning a little at a time, go over your lines first thing in the morning, during break times and again in the evening.
